GDOL Reports Washington County’s Unemployment Rate at 5.5 Percent

The Georgia Department of Labor recently reported Washington County’s unemployment rate for the month of June 2021.

The latest statistics from the Department of Labor show Washington County with a 5.5 percent unemployment rate, an increase from the previous month. Washington County’s unemployment rate for the month of May 2021 was 5.0 percent. For June of 2020, Washington County’s unemployment rate was 7.1 percent.

According to data presented by the Georgia Department of Labor’s Workforce Statistics and Economic Research shows the labor force for Washington County during June of this year was 6,907 with 6,530 employed and 377 unemployed. The previous month’s work force was 6,928 with 6,583 employed and 345 unemployed. These numbers are not seasonally adjusted.

Unemployment rates for June 2021 as reported by the Georgia Department of Labor for surrounding counties are as follows:

– Baldwin: 5.8 percent, an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.9 percent
– Glascock: 3.4 percent, an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 2.8 percent
– Hancock: 6.8 percent, an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 6.2 percent
– Jefferson: 5.5 percent, an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.8 percent
– Johnson: 4.0 percent, an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 3.6 percent
– Laurens: 5.0 percent, an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.4 percent
– Wilkinson: 4.4 percent, an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.0 percent

The Georgia Department of Labor reported that the unemployment rate in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) was 4.8 percent in June of 2021. This is an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.2 percent. The unemployment rate for the Central Savannah River Region was 7.7 percent in June of 2020.

The Central Savannah River Region includes the following counties: Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Jenkins, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington, and Wilkes.

Georgia’s “not seasonally-adjusted” unemployment rate for June 2021 was 4.4 percent, an increase from the previous month’s unemployment rate of 4.0 percent. In June of 2020, the state unemployment rate was 8.7 percent.
