It’s a busy week in Washington County as many students are preparing to start the 2021-2022 school year.

As teachers, parents, and students prepare for the new school year, several orientation sessions are scheduled this week.

The Washington County Schools’ district-wide open house will take place on Thursday, August 5. From 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., parents with the last names beginning with ‘A-L’ can bring their child/children to their respective school(s). The ninth-grade orientation will take place for this group at 10 a.m.

From 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, parents with the last names beginning with ‘M-Z’ can bring their child/children to their respective school(s). Ninth-grade orientation will take place for this group at 3 p.m.

Washington County Schools asks that parents and students visit during the designated times frames in order to help maintain the established safety protocols. They note that according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, masks are an expectation when physical distancing cannot be maintained. No more than two parents/guardians will be allowed to accompany a student.

Washington County Schools announced earlier this summer that the students will need one pencil and one folder for the first day of school. The Washington County Board of Education will provide basic school supplies for students during the 2021-2022 school year.

Classes officially resume on Friday, August 6.

Brentwood School’s Back to School Blast will take place Thursday, August 5 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on the campus’ front lawn. The Back-to-School Blast offers a relaxed time for parents and students to meet their teachers, drop off school supplies, and enjoy a night of fun on the front lawn.

Brentwood students will begin the 2021-2022 school year on Friday, August 6.
