Washington County Commissioners are expecting to hear a report from GP’s Enterprises regarding the status of Jones Road at their Thursday, August 12 meeting.

As previously reported by WACO 100, Commissioners met with representatives from the Georgia Department of Transportation and G.P.’s Enterprises concerning the current state of Jones Road during a called meeting on July 21. G.P.’s agreed to provide a written proposal concerning temporary repairs and long-term solutions for Jones Road to the County. During the called meeting, the Commissioners asked that a representative from G.P.’s attend the County’s August 12 meeting.

In addition to an update concerning Jones Road, Washington County Commissioners will also hear from Drew Pittman in regard to a gate blocking access to Adams Road. It was noted during the Tuesday, August 10 workshop that this issue was addressed in the past. County Attorney Michael Howard explained that this road was abandoned by the County years ago.

“This is a land dispute between a citizen and a private land owner,” said County Attorney Howard.

Australia Cochran plans to make a presentation to the Washington County Commissioners concerning Olympic Gold Medalist Allisha Gray.

Other business to be considered during the Thursday, August 12 meeting includes:

– A Beer/Wine application from Stephanie Roberson for a business located on Star Road in Harrison
– A County noise control ordinance
– Options for a website redesign for the County Commissioners’ website
– The purchase of rescue equipment in the amount of $7,725 to be used by the Deepstep Volunteer Fire Department
– The purchase of five vehicles for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office; this includes four pickup trucks and one Chevrolet Tahoe

Also, the County Commissioners will set the millage rate during their August meeting.

The Washington County Commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 12 at 9 a.m.
