Washington County Commissioners awarded a bid for flooring installation in the Washington County Tax Commissioners’ building at their Thursday, December 9 meeting.
County Administrator Dustin Peebles presented two bids to the Commissioners for this project; he noted that the Commissioners previously purchased the flooring from Sandersville Builders Supply, and this bid would cover the installation.
The two bids received were as follows:
– Willie the Painter from Washington County in the amount of $9,817.50.
– Dyer Construction from Milledgeville in the amount of $20,070.
County Administrator Peebles explained that when reviewing the bids, it was determined that the rubber baseboard material had not been included in the bid amount. Dyer Construction provided a cost for their company to complete that portion of the project in the amount of $8,855. Willie the Painter had not provided a cost as of the Thursday, December 9 meeting.
When discussing the bids, it was noted that the total bid amount from Dyer when including the rubber baseboard material would amount to $28,925.
The Commissioners stated that the rubber baseboard material and the necessary adhesive is not expensive; they ultimately voted unanimously to proceed with Willie the Painter for this project due to the low-bid for the initial scope of the project.
Washington County Commissioners also approved the purchase of furniture for the new Washington County Elections Office during their Thursday, December 9 meeting.
County Administrator Peebles stated that Best Office Solutions currently has the state contract regarding furniture; the County opted to go through that company for their furniture needs. County Administrator Peebles explained that the two invoices include seating, as well as furniture such as tables, desks, filing systems, and trash cans on a separate invoice. The total cost for the furniture amounted to $21,409.93.
During the December 9 meeting, County Administrator Peebles stated that Jefferson and Burke counties recently purchased furniture from Best Office Solutions, and those two counties were pleased with the product, as well as the service when delivering the furniture.
Commissioners unanimously approved the purchase.
