
Mrs. Dessie Mae Underwood entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 25, 2021, in Savannah, Georgia. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. in the Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Minister Lillie Burnett will officiate.
Dessie was born on December 24, 1955, in Tennille to the late Paul Asberry and Lestil Burnett Asberry. She attended the public schools of Washington County. Mrs. Underwood enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her biological children, Dessie took in and cared for many others. She is preceded in death by her brother, Willie James Burnett.
Mrs. Underwood leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Ulysses Underwood; children, Christopher (Serria) May, Queena Burnett, Ulysses (Faye Burden) Underwood Jr., Shedreka Underwood, Erica (Troy) Jenkins, and devoted son Tommy Davis; 21 grandchildren, Chrishonda, De’Tavion, Christavious, Keon, Christopher Jr., Christiona, Christian, DeQuivious, Dewane, U’lexia, Demarion, Alaya, Anasta’jha, DeAsia, Melay’jah, Alexia, Troy’Quez, Jasmine, Rocheme, Troy’von, and Kewon; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Tyerion, Nylan, Carmyn, and Legacy; siblings, Linda (Steve) Whitaker, Sandra (Phillip) Duty, Shirley Roberson, Vincent Wiley, and Sandra Taylor; sister-in-law, Betty Burnett; close friends, Lillie Burnett and Tim Burnett; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
