Tennille Committee Assignments Announced at First Meeting

Tennille committee assignments were announced during the first Tennille Council meeting of the new year, held on Monday, January 3.

Tennille Mayor Eartha Cummings explained that the committees are structured for the purpose of expediting the policy-making and legislative functions of the Council.

“They are organized to more equally distribute the responsibilities and workload among all Council members,” stated Mayor Cummings. She added, “The Committee Chairs serve as a point of contact/advocate for the responsibility of the Department Supervisor.”

The City of Tennille has six committees: administration/finance, historical/keep Tennille beautiful, parks and recreation, public works/public safety, planning and zoning/ordinances, and housing/economic development.

Each committee consists of three of the City Council members.

The committees presented during the Monday, January 3 Tennille City Council meeting are as follows:

– Administration/Finance: Brainard Crawford, David Hartley, and Rhonda Lemons. Brainard Crawford will serve as Chair of this committee.

– Historical/Keep Tennille Beautiful: Deborah Rhodes, David Hartley, and Rhonda Lemons. Deborah Rhodes will serve as Chair of this committee.

– Parks and Recreation: Sidney Swan, Clifford Coleman, Sr., and Brainard Crawford. Sidney Swan will serve as Chair of this committee.

– Public Works/Public Safety: David Hartley, Deborah Rhodes, and Clifford Coleman, Sr. David Hartley will serve as Chair of this committee.

– Planning and Zoning/Ordinances: Clifford Coleman, Sr., Sidney Swan, and Deborah Rhodes. Clifford Coleman, Sr. will serve as Chair of this committee.

– Housing/Economic Development: Rhonda Lemons, Brainard Crawford, and Sidney Swan. Rhonda Lemons will serve as Chair of this committee.

The Mayor may join any committee meeting as an ex-officio member.

The committee assignments were approved during the Monday, January 3 Tennille City Council meeting.
