Ms. Wanda J. Durden, age 58, of Tennille passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in a Savannah hospital following a brief illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 A.M. in the Tennille Baptist Church. Reverend Brian Welch will officiate. Members of the Laurens County and Washington County NA & AA will sit as an Honorary Group. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 8, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Wanda was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She attended the Washington County Public Schools before beginning her working career at the Sandersville Western Sizzling Steak House. Ms. Durden would later work in retail for Friedmans Jewelers and Merle Norman. Wanda retired from work at H&R Block. Her life centered around her five grandchildren. Ms. Durden loved being surrounded by and supporting her family. Wanda loved arts and crafts and making wreaths. She was a “people person” and cherished time with friends. Ms. Durden was a member of the Tennille Baptist Church, and was active with NA & AA, whose members she considered extended family. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Johnson and her grandson, Brantley Mark Daniel.

Ms. Durden is survived by daughters, Savannah Crawford Perkins and her husband Justin of Tennille and Jessica Crawford Daniel and her fiancé Natalie Lampert of Kennesaw; grandchildren, Chance Canty, Cashton Canty, Payton Daniel, Kendall Daniel, Brooklyn Daniel, and “baby to be” Sophie Piper Perkins; beloved mother, Patsy S. Johnson of Tennille; and siblings, Teresa J. Bridges and her husband John of Sandersville and Hunter Johnson and his wife Anne of Oconee.
