CHARLES H. “CHUCK” JOLLEY

picture9-1

Charles H. (Chuck) Jolley, age 61, of Deepstep passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, following an inspirational and hard-fought elongated battle against cancer. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, July 26 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene with burial in the Deepstep United Methodist Church Cemetery. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Joe Crosby will officiate. Pallbearers will be Vic Cheely, Stacey Everett, Jerry Jackson, Eileen Moncus, Carl Moye, Eddie Rhodes, Rhonie Rogers, Barry Shurling, Jimmy Shurling, Robert Shurling, and Janet Smith.

Mr. Jolley was born on September 30, 1960, alongside his twin brother, to the parentage of the late Harris Jolley and the late Helen Jolley. At the age of 8, he taught himself how to play the bass guitar and began traveling with gospel music groups to perform at churches. Chuck’s love of music would span his entire life, playing, singing, and writing music with the bands Fall Line and Southern Touch, ranging from the country to gospel and southern rock genres, his musical aptitude and knowledge nearly unmatched. In July of 1978, Mr. Jolley would meet the love of his life, Tanya Waddell, on a blind date arranged by his brother, Tommy, and his soon-to-be-wife, Dianne Everett. The two would marry on July 20, 1980, relocate to Deepstep in 1987, and spent 42 wonderful years together. Chuck’s family, including his three children and nine grandchildren, were the portion of life that he loved and held most dear. Mr. Jolley worked in the kaolin mining industry for more than 40 years as a Laboratory Technician and Hauling Coordinator. As noted by his son-in-law, Ron Moore, Chuck’s musical practice on Earth well prepared him to play in God’s “Big Band” in the sky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sammy Jolley and Brenda Wilkes; and mother-in-law, Linda Lunsford Waddell.

Survivors include his wife, Tanya Jolley; daughters, Christin Davis and husband Jason and Jessica Moore and husband Ron; son, Harris Jolley; grandchildren, Charlie Davis, Brooks Moore, Wyatt Moore, Cora Lee Davis, Evelyn Davis, Bonnie Davis, and Evan Grace Moore; brother, Tommy Jolley; sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Laney Martin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family suggests that donations be made to the Brentwood School Athletic Fund, P.O. Box 955, Sandersville, Georgia 31082, the Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene Music Department, P.O. Box 801, Sandersville, Georgia 31082, or to the donor’s favorite charity.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Gatliff, Dr. Gaddis, and Sammy Muller for their excellent and appreciated medical care during Chuck’s medical journey.
