Mr. Melvin Gerry Brantley, age 72, of East Dublin passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022, following a brief illness. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, December 19th at 11:00 A.M. in the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18th from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville.
Mr. Brantley was born in Sandersville to the late Jesse Melvin Brantley and the late Hazel Hill Brantley. He was reared in Harrison and graduated from the Georgia Military College Preparatory High School. Gerry entered the workforce alongside his father at their family business, J.M. Brantley Wood Company, which he would later own and operate. Mr. Brantley cherished spending time with his grandchildren and dining out with family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Kelly B. Sanders and husband Kevin of Toccoa, Melvin Gerry “Bubba” Brantley, Jr. and wife Sheryl of Statesboro, Kimberly B. Baucom and husband Dwain of Linton, and Patrick Neil Brantley and wife Jenny of Harrison; grandchildren, Easton Sanders, Chloe Sanders, Brayden Brantley, Aubrey Brantley, Ella Baucom, Wyatt Baucom, Colton Brantley, and Kinsley Brantley; and sisters, Eleanor B. Schwartz of Birmingham, Alabama, Kaye Brantley of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Janice B. Robertson of Dublin, and Carol B. Webb and husband Allan of Beaufort, South Carolina.
