WACO Chamber of Commerce Named Work-Based Learning Business Partner of the Year

Washington County Chamber of Commerce was recently honored as the 2023 Business Partner of the Year for the East Central Region of the Georgia Department of Education Work-Based Learning program.

The accolade was bestowed to recognize the outstanding commitment and contribution to fostering work-based learning opportunities within the 26-county region.

“We are honored to receive this award and committed to continuing our efforts in supporting work-based learning opportunities with our local schools,”said Katie Moncus, President of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. “This accolade is a testament to the dedication of our community in investing in the development of our future workforce.”

The Georgia Department of Education states that work-based learning is a crucial component in preparing the future workforce by providing students with hands-on experiences and real-world exposure to professional settings.

“The Washington County Chamber of Commerce has been an invaluable partner in providing our students with valuable insights into the world of work,” stated Dean Wilcher, Washington County High School Work-Based Learning Coordinator. “Their dedication to work-based learning is making a significant impact on the career readiness of our students.”

Washington County Chamber of Commerce was awarded for their active engagement with local educational institutions creating meaningful partnerships with businesses and organizations to bridge the gap between classroom education and the skills needed in the workforce.
