Mr. William Gordon Josey, Sr., age 92, of Riddleville died on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his residence. A private family graveside service will be held at the Riddleville Cemetery. Public viewing will be allowed on Friday, March 27 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home in numbers of ten or less. Reverend Wade Dawson and Reverend Allen Wiggins will officiate.

Mr. Josey was born in Johnson County, Georgia on March 6, 1928. His parents were Marvin Lawson Josey and Susan Drudell Mixon Josey. He was preceded in death by his children, William Josey, Wyman Josey, and Jeffery Josey, his sisters, JaMae Josey and Jeanette Josey Brice. Mr. Josey was a retired superintendent for Cypress Industrial Minerals. He was a member of Riddleville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over thirty-five years. Mr. Josey was a member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #58 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Georgia, the Al Shiah Shrine and he was a Royal Arch Mason. Mr. Josey served as the Mayor of Riddleville for sixteen years.

Survivors are his wife of 73 years, Frances McNeely Josey of Riddleville; daughter, Charlotte Josey Hitchcock and her husband Ben of Tennille; sister, Melba Josey May and her husband Francis of Sandersville; daughter in law, Carol Josey of Riddleville; grandchildren, Jennifer Josey Martin, Amy Josey, William Harrison Josey, Kristen Hitchcock, and Kimberly Hitchcock Duncan; great grandchildren, Clay McDaniel, Cassie McDaniel, Matthew Grant, Brayden Duncan, Dylan Duncan and Ava Josey.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Riddleville Baptist Church, 9019 Highway 242, Harrison, Georgia 31035 or to Brentwood School, P.O. Box 955, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
