If you’re looking for something fun and exciting to do this weekend, you won’t have to look very far because the Washington County Ag Center Rodeo is taking place on Friday, April 2 and Saturday, April 3.
“We are looking forward to getting back to normal and enjoying the Rodeo,” said Eddy Turner, Vice President of the Washington County Farm Bureau.
Sanctioned by the International Professional Rodeo Association and the Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association, the Washington County Ag Center Rodeo will include the following contests: bareback riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, team roping, and bull riding.
Hedrick Rodeo Company of Madisonville, Tennessee will produce this year’s rodeo; the Hedrick family (Danny and Jessica, and their children Justin and Emily) will celebrate 20 years in the rodeo business this year.
Washington County Farm Bureau Vice President Turner explained that the rodeo offers a family friendly atmosphere featuring the rodeo contests, food vendors, and a special appearance from Miss Rodeo USA 2021 Kylee Campbell, 20, from Huntsville, Alabama.
Turner explained that because the event is outdoors and open seating, they will not have any specific COVID restrictions. People will be free to move about at their own comfort. He added that masks are encouraged but are not mandated. In addition, there will be numerous hand washing and sanitizing stations at the event.
Proceeds from the rodeo are used to maintain the Washington County Ag Center, promote Ag in the Community and Classroom, and support 4-H and Future Farmers of America.
“We are grateful to our many sponsors who have firmly supported us and this event even with all the delays,” said Turner.
Tickets for the Washington County Ag Center are $15 for adults and $10 for youth at the gate. Children under six are admitted free of charge.
Gates open on Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m.; the Rodeo starts at 7 p.m. at the Washington County Ag Center located at 882 Grady Mertz Road in Tennille.
