
Mrs. Claire Boyd Brett, age 63, of West Adams Street, Tennille, died Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Serenity Hospice in Dublin following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shephard Church of the Nazarene in Tennille with burial in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Rev. Lamar Brantley will officiate.
Mrs. Brett was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late James Denis Boyd Jr. and the late Ella Frances Smith Boyd. She was a retired Master General Agent for Globe Life where she was the first and only female recipient of the Lifetime Flagship Award. Claire was a member of Temple of Praise Church and loved assisting in Weddings. She was an excellent cook known for her key lime cakes. Claire is predeceased by her husband Thomas Jefferson “Tommy” Brett III.
Survivors include: her children, Ashley Brett McCoy and her husband Josh and Tyler Boyd Brett and his wife Taylor all of Tennille; grandchildren, Hunter Beck McCoy, Liam Beck McCoy, Morgan Brett, Sylas Brett, and Dana Carter; siblings, Sandra B. Bird of Douglas, Denis Boyd and his wife Kathy of Dublin, Ike Boyd and Michael Boyd both of Tennille; her sister-in-law Saralyn B. Davis and her husband Mark of Cornelia; and her best friend and cousin Teresa Mason of Tennille.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
