Sgt. Johnny “JB” Hooks, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Firebrand Central Church with Elder Woodrow Salley officiating. The address to the church is 1430 Highway 15 North, Sandersville, GA, 31082

 

He was born on September 28, 1960 in Sandersville, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Willie Wimberly and the late Mrs. Rosa Mae Hooks Phelps. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Mr. C. Edwards Brown and the late Mrs. Carry Brown. JB was a member of the Washington County High School Class of 1978. He joined the United States Army in 1979 and served until 1989. After retiring from the Army, He resided in Decatur, Georgia. Sgt. Hooks attended House of Hope Church under the leadership of Pastor E. Dewy Smith. He was employed with DSI Security of Norcross, Georgia.

 

He was preceded in death by a sister: Ms. Pinkie Lee Hooks; aunt: Mrs. Georgia Bell Lamar and uncle: Mr. Freddie Lee Hooks, Jr.

 

Sgt. Hooks leaves cherished memories to his wife: Mrs. Christine Martin Hooks, Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters: Ms. Kaneshia Hooks, Ms. Sidney Hooks, Arizona; one son: Mr. Sterling Allen Hooks, Savannah, Georgia; six sisters: Ms. Freddie Warthen, Mrs. Bettye (Willie) Carlyle, Ms. Gale Wimberly, Ms. Deloise Wimberly, Mrs. Denice (Tony) Murry, Mrs. Marchelle (Tony) Kitchen, Sandersville, Georgia; four brothers: Mr. Charlie (Malaine) Hooks, Jacksonville, Florida, Mr. John Henry (Debbie) Phelps, Tampa, Florida; Mr. Ricky (Marilyn) Wimberly, Sandersville, Georgia, Mr. Robert (Teresa) Warthen, San Antonio, Texas; one uncle: Mr. Benjamin (Denise) Brown, Sandersville, Georgia; one aunt: Ms. Alisha Brown, Milledgeville, Georgia; step mother: Mrs. Carrie Mae Wimberly; brother-in-law: Mr. Dwight Barber, Baltimore, Maryland; best friend: Mr. Robert Barkley; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
