ROBERT HICKS, JR.

Mr. Robert Hicks, Jr., Davisboro, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Graveside funeral services were held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Shiloh Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Reverend Leonard Vining officiating.

Mr. Hicks was born and raised in Bartow, Georgia to the late Mr. Robert Hicks, Sr. and the late Mrs. Alice Bell Hicks. He attended Jones Chapel in Bartow. He was a member of Shiloh C.M.E., where he served faithfully as a deacon. Robert worked as a farmer and truck driver for over forty (40) years until his retirement in 2009. Mr. Hicks was a true man of God, who devoted his life to serving the Lord’s will. “Fruits of the spirit” that are referenced in Galatians 5:22 – love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness and faith were evident within him. He was a great husband, father, mentor, and friend. Robert was well respected by his community, never meeting a stranger and showing love and kindness to all. Mr. Hicks was a “manly man,” but possessed a sensitive side. Those that knew him described him as “one of a kind.” He loved his family and enjoyed helping others. Robert’s favorite song was ‘What A Friend We Have In Jesus.’ He was humble, believed in doing what is right, and enjoyed praising and serving the Lord to the fullest.

Mr. Hicks leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mrs. Burene Hicks, Davisboro; children, Mr. Jeremy (Nami) Hicks, Okinawa, Japan, Mrs. Patricia (David) Harris, Hephzibah, Mr. David Brown, South Carolina, Mr. Glenn Brown, Tennille, and Ms. Carolyn Brown, Sandersville; two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Mae Davis, Walterboro, South Carolina and Ms. Anna Bell Hicks, Wadley; two brothers, Mr. John (Iola) Smith, Orlando, Florida and Mr. Ozzie (Edith) Hicks, Jacksonville, Florida; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
