The Washington County Chamber of Commerce is encouraging everyone to shop local during national small business week, which runs from Monday, May 3 – Friday, May 7.

Throughout the week, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce has outlined ways that the public can help acknowledge small businesses in the community.

On Monday, May 3, everyone is encouraged to stop by a local small business, snap a photo, and share their finds on social media with the hashtag #shopwacofirst.

For Tuesday, May 4, the Chamber of Commerce wants you to show some love to your favorite local business by tagging them on social media.

Wednesday, May 5 is a day for welcoming new businesses in Washington County.

“Stop by a new local business and say ‘hi’,” encouraged Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Katie Moncus.

Whether it’s a new restaurant, a new retail store, or a new business that offers a service to the community, drop by and wish them well as they embark on a happy and successful time in Washington County.

Thursday, May 6 is a day set aside to say ‘thank you’ to the local businesses who provide so much to the Washington County community. The Chamber of Commerce is encouraging everyone to thank businesses throughout the County. Local businesses do more than just provide goods and services; they provide jobs; they sponsor athletic teams at the local Recreation Department; they donate to worthwhile organizations in the community such as First Love Kids, and they continuously give back to Washington County.

On Friday, May 7, the public is encouraged to enjoy a “Foodie Friday” by grabbing a bite to eat at your favorite local restaurant.
